En matemáticas, sumado a los tópicos regulares (juego de palabras intencional), jugaremos juegos divertidos como matemática de pizarra,’ matemática mental’, y “buzz.” En la matemática mental ustedes deben pensar para descubrir un número guiados por varias pistas que les doy verbalmente, y mostrar sus respuestas en una tarjeta. Buzz es un juego que se basa en un principio o regla de matemática y ustedes deben decir “buzz” cuando esa regla es aplicable. También les enseñaré 8 estrategias diferentes para resolver cualquier problema redactado de matemáticas. ¡Cool! ¡Buenísimo! ¡Chévere! ¡Bárbaro! ¡Genial!
Otra cosa muy divertida será que tendremos una economía en el salón y cada estudiante tendrá un trabajo que le pagará con “dinero del salón”. Ustedes deberán usar ese salario para pagar renta por sus escritorios. Si alguien ahorra suficiente dinero, el/ella puede “go condo” y comprar su propio escritorio. Además nosotros tendremos remates regulares en los cuales pueden comprar objetos o materiales con su dinero del salón.
En inglés vamos a leer libros muy divertidos y aprender palabras interesantes para usar en la escritura. (¿Qué oración corta puedes escribir usando las palabras: “cunning” astuto, “prudent” prudente, “quixotic” absurdamente caballeroso como Don Quijote, y “uncouth” tosco/bulgar.)
¿Hay mucho para hacer? ¡Si lo hay! Tú vas a trabajar mucho más que en cualquier grado anterior, porque estás creciendo. Tú eres inteligente y puedes hacerlo. ¡Entonces, vamos a trabajar y divertirnos mientras aprendemos mucho juntos!

For Math, in addition to the regular topics (pun intended), we will play fun games such as board math and ‘buzz.’ Buzz is a game where we have a ‘math rule’ and say "buzz" when the rule is hit. I’ll also be teaching you 8 different strategies for solving any math word problem! Cool.
Another fun thing is that we will have a classroom economy, where everyone has a job that pays "classroom money." You’ll need your paycheck to pay "rent" for your desk. Save up enough money, and you can "go condo" and buy your desk. We'll also have regular auctions to buy items and supplies with your classroom bucks.
In English we'll be reading fun books, leaning interesting words, and writing. (How short of a sentence can you make using the words "cunning," "prudent," "quixotic," and "uncouth?")
Is there a lot to do? Yes there is! You will work harder than in any grade you have had before, because you are growing up. But you are smart and can handle it! So let's work and have fun while we all learn together!
