About Adelante School

Déjenme decirles un poco acerca de nuestra escuela. Nuestra población estudiantil esta compuesta por 50% de estudiantes de habla en inglés y 50% de estudiantes de habla en español. Aproximadamente un 70% de la población de nuestros estudiantes es de origen hispana, debido a que muchas de estas familias han optado por nuestro programa escolar con la intención de regresar el idioma español a casa.

Tenemos muy altas expectativas para nuestros estudiantes. Nosotros esperamos que adquieran una óptima competencia lingüística en ambos idiomas y que sean capaces de expresarse oralmente y por escrito al finalizar el programa. Evaluamos a los estudiantes en los dos idiomas a partir de segundo grado y comprobamos que sobrepasan nuestras expectativas en sus habilidades bilingües. ¡Creemos que el desarrollo bilingües ha hecho a los estudiantes aún más inteligentes!

Nuestra comunidad está compuesta por sobresalientes niños(as), maestros(as) y padres/madres de familia. Todos estamos comprometidos en aprovechar la diversidad cultural junto con la meta del bilingüísmo. La organización de padres sind fin de lucro Unidos y Adelante, planea y organiza eventos sociales y de recaudación de fondos que atrae y reúne a nuestra comunidad. Tenemos la Kermesse Latina que se celebra en el mes de octubre donde las familias de Adelante se reunen para disfrutar de la comida, juegos con estilo carnavalero, Además, organizamos la carrera de diversión

Let me tell you a little bit about our school. Our student population is composed of 50% Spanish speaking students and 50% English speaking students. The ethnic background of the students is approximately 70% latino, as several latino families have selected this school for their children with the intent of bringing Spanish back into their homes.

We have high expectations for our students. We expect them to show high levels of proficiency in two languages by the time they exit our school. We test the students in both languages starting in second grade, and the students have exceeded our expectations. We have observed what research supports – the development of the students' bilingual abilities has made the students smarter!

Our community is composed of outstanding children, teachers and parents. All are committed to the goal of bilingualism and the embracing of diversity.

Our non-profit parent organization, Unidos y Adelante, plans social and fundraising events that bring our community together. We have a Latino Kermesse in the Spring where Adelante families come together to enjoy good food, carnival type games, a raffle, music, dance, and each other's company.
